SO9298 : Metro tramway, Bilston Road

taken 14 years ago, near to Wolverhampton, England

Metro tramway, Bilston Road
Metro tramway, Bilston Road
Looking towards the tram stop known as The Royal, which can be glimpsed in the distance. The section between this stop and the Wolverhampton terminus is on reserved track. After The Royal, there is a street-running section of about 2km along Bilston Road. The route then follows that of a dismantled railway line to Snow Hill Railway Station. The recently departed Government promised funding to extend the route through Birmingham city centre streets to terminate outside Snow Hill Railway Station. Whether this will go ahead, following the May 2010 change of government, remains to be seen.
