Duffus Castle
Duffus Castle
A fortress and a residence for well over 500 years, Duffus has seen a great many changes since its inception in the C12. The remains we see today date from the C14 when the original simple earth and timber structure was replaced with one of stone and lime mortar. It was abandoned probably in 1705 on the death of James Sutherland the 2nd Lord Duffus.
