R2853 : Aughinish

taken 15 years ago, 4 km ENE of Foynes, Co Limerick, Ireland

Aughinish
Aughinish
The aluminium works at Aughinish on the south side of the Shannon estuary. Taken from a flight from Gatwick to Shannon that is about to land in the less usual north-easterly direction. This was the day before most European airspace was closed for six days due to an ash cloud caused by a volcanic eruption in Iceland.
