R2650 : Above Foynes

taken 15 years ago, near to Foynes, Co Limerick, Ireland

Above Foynes
Above Foynes
In the foreground the Foynes south-easterly ring road can be seen, crossed by the Foynes to Limerick railway. Beyond is the Robertstown River flowing north-west to join the Shannon estuary. Taken from a flight from Gatwick to Shannon that is about to land in the less usual north-easterly direction. This was the day before most European airspace was closed for six days due to an ash cloud caused by a volcanic eruption in Iceland.
