TF1443 : Heckington Eight Sailed Mill

taken 14 years ago, near to Heckington, Lincolnshire, England

Heckington Eight Sailed Mill
Heckington Eight Sailed Mill
Unique in this country being the only 8 sailed mill.
Originally built with 5 sails in 1830, after severe storm damage in 1890, the tower was re-equipped by John Pocklington using machinery from Tuxford's eight sailed mill in Boston.
It ceased work in 1946, but has been preserved and restored in 1986. Following further works in 2004 it is once again in full working order.
Managed by Friends of Heckington Mill, a voluntary charitable trust, for the owners, Lincolnshire County Council.
