The crumbling cliffs of Warden Point
The crumbling cliffs of Warden Point
Looking along the beach from the south, the unstable nature of the clay cliffs at Warden Point on the Isle of Sheppey can clearly be seen. The structure on the beach in the middle distance is a sound mirror which was once on top of the cliff. This was an acoustic forerunner of radar which was intended to provide early warning of incoming enemy aircraft.
