The corner entrance to Lewis's store on the corner of Renshaw Street and Ranelagh Street. There are three plaques by Sir Jacob Epstein just above the three doors SJ3590 : Lewis's - panel over the left hand corner door NO5116 : Ruins of St. Andrews Cathedral SJ3590 : Lewis's - panel over the right hand corner door, and high above them the bronze figure of 'Liverpool Resurgent', also by Epstein, which was installed in 1956. The photo was taken on the day the store closed - 29th May 2010.
Lewis's Liverpool

David Lewis opened his first store in Liverpool in 1856. Other stores were opened around the country but finally the last store to trade under this name was the one in Liverpool. Lewis's department store closed its doors for the last time on 29th May 2010. It is reported that the building will undergo a 35 million pound refurbishment.
