Lindisfarne Castle
Visitors to the National Trust's Lindisfarne Castle read the information board before proceeding to the building itself. A fortress was originally built here on Beblowe Crag in the 16th century, but it was at the beginning of the 20th century that Edwin Lutyens transformed the derelict remains into an unusual and eccentric holiday home for Edward Hudson, the founder of Country Life magazine. It passed to the Trust in 1944.
