Holwell: postbox № DT9 4, Barnes Cross
This wonderful Victorian pillar box, with a vertical slot, stands unusually short at about 5 feet high – perhaps a little less – and is remarkable for being the oldest operational postbox in Britain. It is emptied finally at 12:30pm on weekdays and at 9am on Saturdays.
