Wansborough Papermill marshalling yard
Wansborough Papermill marshalling yard
Taken on a slightly murky day through a passing steam train window. Back in the 1960s, there were railway sidings here, so that esparto grass and woodpulp could be shunted by tank engine over the short distance from Watchet Harbour. Now the area is an artic trailer marshalling yard for trucks bringing in cardboard to recycle and the finished product going out. Artic transport is hardly ideal in an area with such narrow windy roads. It would be great to see some sidings here once again, with some of the transport switched back to rail.
