Located at the southern end of Main Street, Paraffin Alley Link runs behind shops on Market Square.
So called because in times past the alley always had a faint odour of paraffin, which was stored at the back of an ironmonger's shop. The street sign was only put up in 2008, after a local campaign. However, some nearby business owners were not too happy with the name's smelly connotation. (Information from a report in the "News and Star").
