Geograph - photograph every grid square

I recall as a kid (about 10 years old) cycling past RAF Kidbrooke on the way to Greenwich Park, which was a favourite destination in the mid sixties. We always assumed it was an airfield of some sort but very secret!

It was sad to see it gone one day and later replaced by those concrete buildings of the Ferrier Estate. It seemed to have a bad reputation from the early days but I have no idea why that was. I last went past it in the mid eighties but now live in Kent.

I also recall there were "Government Offices" on the other side of the road to RAF Kidbrooke. These were built post war and were known as Temporary Office Buildings (TOB) and meant as stop gap office for the Civil Service that had been scattered during the war. Rumour has it it was Home office. There were also some in the Grove Park/Mottingham area but these were demolished some years ago so those at Kidbrooke, if they still survive, they may the last of the SE London ones.
