SO0438 : Quarry in Brycheiniog Forest

taken 14 years ago, near to Llaneglwys, Powys, Wales

Quarry in Brycheiniog Forest
Quarry in Brycheiniog Forest
This quarry was originally opened by the Forestry Commission for roadstone for tracks in their then Brecon Forest; the managers of the now privately owned Brycheiniog Forest have very recently reopened it for the same purpose. The stone is the Temeside Mudstone Formation, at the bottom of the Old Red Sandstone series.
