See NS4672 : Remains of the south jetty for the main description. The present photograph was taken on a better day.
The south jetty

Mistakenly reported as a crannog in the past, this was simply one of a pair of jetties, both of which originally had a beacon at the far end; see LinkExternal link at WoSAS. Those beacons were removed in the late nineteenth century. See Link for the corresponding north jetty.
