Queen Mary's Mount on Carberry Hill
Queen Mary's Mount on Carberry Hill
The stone in the middle background marks the spot where it is believed that Queen Mary mounted her horse to cross over to the Lords of the Congregation, having arranged for her lover Bothwell's safe passage back to Dunbar Castle. She was immediately arrested and taken to Edinburgh before being imprisoned in Lochleven Castle.
