Tower, The Church of St Mary and St James
The church dates from the late 14th or early 15th century and is built in the Perpendicular style. The walls are of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. It has a wonderful 60ft tower with a vice or stair turret on the northeastern side.
The six bells hung within the tower were restored in 1950. Also on the tower is an Ordnance Survey bench mark ST7508 : Bench Mark, The Church of St Mary and St James and a scratch dial ST7508 : Scratch dial, The Church of St Mary and St James
The path leading from the lych gate to the church is paved with Purbeck stone and pebbles from the beaches of Dorset.
