Castles of Leinster: Dungar, Offaly

In 1640 this circular tower house was occupied by Rory O'Carroll and his wife Finola O'Brien. There is a spiral stair in the semi-circular turret on the south side. The private owner in recent times has (at some personal risk), single-handedly cleared the ivy from around the sides and from the top of the tower.
