Drainage Detail, Martello 19
Drainage Detail, Martello 19
The lead gutter was built into the brick flat roof and walls. The parapet wall around the flat was continuous for maximum protection so rainwater had to be drained in this way. This detail shows a section through the collapsed roof.
Martello Tower number 19, Hythe

One of 74 Martello Towers built along the South Coast. The roof and south side have collapsed and some brick remains are scattered on the beach.

Being on the beach next to the Hythe Ranges, it is only accessible during non firing times.
