Aftermath of Fire on High Street
Mid-afternoon and the fire crews are monitoring the site after a fire in the early hours of the morning.
Fire on High Street, Staplehurst
On Wednesday 14th July at about 3:30am a fire started in a second floor flat above the Post Office building at High Street, Staplehurst. 10 people were rescued but no-one was hurt.
Ten fire crews including 80 firefighters from as far afield as Charing, Edenbridge and Thames Valley came to the scene and the road was closed well into the evening, with traffic diverted around the housing estates.
Almost all the fire damage was to the rear of the properties. One of the damaged buildings is Grade II listed pair of houses, known as Green Court House and Green Court Cottage.
