The breach in the dam wall, Llyn Eigiau reservoir
This gap testifies to the breach that resulted in the Dolgarrog Disaster of 2nd November 1925. Here, the dam wall, built on unstable glacial moraine debris, rather than bedrock, gave way resulting in 16 lives being lost, Coedty Reservoir being swamped and Dolgarrog flash flooded by waters which shifted 200 ton boulders and swept cottages away.
