Cartularium Saxonicum at the beginning of the 8th century, denoting "a stream by small buildings". In an early 13th-century deed it had become
Scotrith, and it is
Skottre in the Bishop[ of Worcester's Red Book of 1299. By the year of Shakespeare's birth in 1564 it was
