The channel in this picture is the short (200m) tidal outfall into the River Nene. The South Holland Main Drain is one of the main drainage arteries to the west and north of the River Nene and it is somewhat unusual in that water flows from this drain at low tide whereas most drains feeding the River Nene are pumped
