Ardoch Roman Fort
Ardoch Roman Fort
This shows the system of ditches and ramparts on the east side of the fort, crossed by the causeway for the east gate. Ardoch is considered to be the best preserved Roman fort in Britain, however elsewhere on the site (mainly on the north side) considerable damage is being caused by rabbits burrowing into the faces of the ditches.
