Burnt mound, Loch of Birriesgirt
Burnt mounds may be a relic from hunting, when the carcass was cooked. They are generally Neolithic or Iron-Age. They are a typical western British and Irish archaeological feature. The pasture around the north-western end of the Loch is very lush.
