HP5101 : Heatherdale croft

taken 14 years ago, 3 km from Cullivoe, Mainland, Shetland Islands, Scotland

Heatherdale croft
Heatherdale croft
I haven't been able to find out any history about Heatherdale, but it may be likely that it was abandoned during the 1867 clearances. The fir trees, a more recent addition, grow well in wind-swept Shetland given some shelter. Roses, willows and alders have also been planted here.
