The clear leader and eventual winner of the 1982 London Marathon has just turned the corner out of Cable Street and continues the outward part of the loop around the East End. The lack of spectators is misleading - there were very many just to the left, where the outward and return parts of the loop approached one another closely - Cable Street/Butchers Row and Narrow Street/The Highway.
