Flood defences
A long way from the Water of Leith, but this wall has a purpose. The river does and has flooded in the past causing a large amount of damage to houses and cars in Roseburn. Roseburn park acts as a flood plain and the wall, pictured, is supposed to hold it in. Edinburgh Council has been forced to spend quite a lot of money in recent years improving its flood defences.
