taken 16 years ago, near to Belfast, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland

Development site, York Street, Belfast (1)
With the widespread clearances the original street numbers ceased to have any significance. Some building has taken place on the surplus land left after the cross-harbour road and rail links. This building J3475 : Yorkgate Park, Belfast is one example. This is the site seen from York Street. Dock Street lies at the far end of the photo. The M2 is to the right of the elevated railway (right). Yorkgate Park is behind me. Continue to J3475 : Development site, York Street, Belfast (2).

The area bounded by York Street, Corporation Street, Whitla Street and Gt George’s Street was cleared some 40 years ago for a road scheme which was never completed in the form envisaged. There is planning permission for “Erection of 10 storey building (retail showroom for the sale of bulky goods and class B1 office use) along with associated site works and car parking. (Amended Plans) Z/2008/1795/F”.
