Now managed by the National Trust, this light house has saved many lives over the years, warning ships of the White Cliffs of Dover and the sand banks before them.

One of the reasons this lighthouse is more famous than most is the fact that Michael Farriday experimented with carbon arc lamps here in the early days of electrification.
