Geograph - photograph every grid square

NZ2533 : St Paul's Church, Spennymoor

Norman Cornish, one of the Spennymoor Settlement's 'Pitman Painters', who died in 2014 (aged 95), included St Paul's in several of his paintings. Some of them were reproduced in 'A shot against time', published 2010. The church building (pre-1953 fire?) serves as a central unnamed feature in his paintings of the terraced houses in Edward Street. Unfortunately few of his paintings carry a date so it needs a specialist to reveal whether he portrays the church as it was before/after the 1950's arson event.
