Dunvegan from Uiginish
Dunvegan from Uiginish
A view of the "scrappy village" (as John Gifford calls it in the Pevsner guide) from Uiginish Farm, across the loch. At left, the council houses at Taobh an Loch (Lochside) stand out a surreal red against the wooded policies of the castle. To their right is the white tower of Duirinish Parish Church, the two hotels at the junction of the Portree road and finally the rounded peaks of the Red Cuillin some 30 miles away.
