Salmon Ladder at the Gaur Dam
Salmon Ladder at the Gaur Dam
This was one way of allowing salmon to bypass a dam to reach their spawning grounds upstream. Several other methods were used elsewhere, including the Borland fish lift. The ladder also allows young salmon (smolts) passage on their way downstream to the sea.
