The trackbed of the former Waverley Railway Line
The line between Edinburgh and Carlisle was closed in 1969 but a line restoration project to reinstate 35 miles of passenger railway from Edinburgh to Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders is scheduled to commence in 2011 for the main construction work, with a completion date of 2014.
