Stinkhorn fungus in Calder Woods
Stinkhorn fungus in Calder Woods
With the very descriptive Latin name of Phallus impudicus [impudicus means 'shameless']. All the spores have gone - they would have filled the net-like depressions on the cap - dispersed by flies attracted to the carrion smell they give off. Although all spores were gone, I was still able to find the fungi by smell before I saw them.
