Unveiled in the 1920s, naming 15 who were killed in the Great War (of which 9 were Northumberland Fusiliers). The names of 3 who died during the 1939-1945 War were added later.
This area was already notable as the site of Baden-Powell's first ever Boy Scout camp, held in August 1908. At least one of the boys attending and their scoutmaster subsequently died in WWI. Their names I believe were inscribed on a separate cairn erected near here in 1929. Does anyone know of its whereabouts?
