Cavan & Leitrim Railway Station (3), Dromod/Dromad

This is the platform side of the station. The railway opened in 1887 and closed in 1959. Unlike most of the narrow gauge railways in Ireland, it never used diesel locomotives, but remained steam-hauled until closure. It also out-lived most of the others, with the notable and often forgotten exception of the 1,000 km of industrial narrow gauge lines, belonging to Bord na Moná, which are still in operation, carrying peat.
