Bass Rock, Lighthouse and Castle
Bass Rock, Lighthouse and Castle
Bass Rock is a volcanic plug sited in the Forth of Forth near to North Berwick. The lighthouse is situated to the south of the island as is the ruins of a castle dating back to at least 1405. The Light was automated in 1988 and is now remotely monitored from the Board’s headquarters in Edinburgh. The Bass Rock is home to 10% of the world's Gannet (Morus bassanus) population many of which can be seen in this picture.
