Martyrs' Monument near Loch Mannoch
Martyrs' Monument near Loch Mannoch
This monument is easy to miss: from the track you see a square stone enclosure (about 200m square) crammed with mature Scots pines and other trees. The obelisk is just visible through them. Then you find a small gate on the east side, and if you follow the track round you find the monument. Each face has a long inscription, worn and hardly legible, but showing that the monument commemorates a massacre of Covenanters.
