"Don't forget to write!"
Scottish Wildcat "Kendra", with one of her three kittens, at the British Wildlife Centre. Kendra's sister, "Iona", had just the one kitten. In total, two kittens survived.

Within the next few weeks, the kittens will be six months old, and will be returned to the wild, in Scotland, to help boost the Scottish Wildcat ( Felis silvestris) population. It puts things into perspective; these two kittens, the first bred at the wildlife centre for five years, could form approximately 0.5% of the Scottish Wildcat population. Estimates vary, but some put the remaining "pure" figure as low as 400. Wildcats have been known to breed with feral cats.

It will be a sad day for some regular visitors to the centre; several of whom had sat outside the enclosure, for hours, in order to photograph the kittens when they were younger, and very timid. I happened to catch this pair just before feeding time.
