SJ1662 : Y Tŵr Jubilî 200/Jubilee Tower 200 celebration #10 - Walkers on the path to the tower
taken 13 years ago, 3 km from Hirwaen, Denbighshire/Sir Ddinbych, Wales
On 24th October 2010 an event was staged to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the Jubilee Tower on Moel Famau. Park and ride buses transported people from Ruthin and Mold, and many more people parked on every available car park and roadside verge for miles around. Thousands of people registered and then made their way up the mountain to join in the celebrations at the top on a beautiful but cold day. At the top there was a drumming performance by Karamba Samba, a light show projected on to the tower, a laser beam seen for miles around, and a very welcome hot drinks tent. At 7pm, as it got dark, there was a firework display. At 8pm people were still heading for the top in the dark.
