NZ3508 : Bridge over River Tees, Girsby

taken 15 years ago, near to Girsby, North Yorkshire, England

Bridge over River Tees, Girsby
Bridge over River Tees, Girsby
A bridge over the Tees which looked strong enough for vehicles, but access was restricted by farm gates at the top of the hill. The public footpath crosses the river at this point. Apparently it was built by a former incumbent of Sockburn Hall who objected to locals visiting the church in the grounds of Sockburn Hall. The bridge gave access to All Saints Church at Girsby.
