For The Fallen
For The Fallen
About ten years ago, a plaque was put up on Pentire to say that in 1914 Laurence Binyon wrote "For the Fallen" while contemplating life and death overlooking these wild Cornish cliffs.
It's a pretty awe inspiring place and I am sure that many others have since composed their own poetry here, at least in their heads.
If you get the chance, walk up here from Polzeath to watch the sun set over the Atlantic. You might be inspired to write something deep and meaningful too!

The Plaque has these lines:
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
