taken 56 years ago, near to City of London, The City of London, England

MV Dragon in the Pool of London
MV Dragon in the Pool of London
The ship is the MV Dragon. It had recently completed fitting-out and was moored here, probably for publicity purposes, before entering service for Normandy Ferries on the Southampton - Le Havre route. More photos: LinkExternal link . Photo taken about 21:35 in the evening close to Midsummer Day.

The quayside cranes are all still in place. Behind them we can see Adelaide House with the tips of The Monument and the spire of St Magnus-the-Martyr behind it, New Fresh Wharf and at far right, the tower of St Dunstan-in-the-East.

See TQ3280 : St Magnus House, Pool of London for a modern view.
