NY9929 : Bridge over Little Eggleshope Beck

Bridge over Little Eggleshope Beck
Bridge over Little Eggleshope Beck
A narrow tunnel-like conduit leads under the minor road which cuts across the southwest slopes of Monk's Moor. In high flood, when this is a preferred put-on for kayaking the Eggleston Burn, a highlight is paddling under this bridge whose narrowness rather impairs control, and then avoiding the large pointy rock which lies directly in front at the exit to daylight. The level here is a long way below that needed to paddle the beck, so the rock would be rather better covered !
