Henry John Robert Osborn was born on 12 September 1839 in Duchy of Baden, Germany. He was born a British Subject. He was the son of George Robert Osborn and Charlotte Elizabeth Kerr. In the census of 7 April 1861 in Chicksands Priory, Chicksands, Bedfordshire, England, he was listed as the son of George Robert Osborn Henry was Sub Lieutenant 1st Life Guard.3 He married Emily St Quintin on 28 April 1866 Emily's father was called Thomas. He died on 29 March 1889 aged 49. Henry was lost at sea in the collision of the steamer "Comtesse de Flandres" with the steamer "Princess Henriette". A monument commemorating the accident can be seen towards the South East of Chicksands Wood.

Sir George Robert's grandson Algernon, survived the shipwreck became heir and subsequently 7th Baronet in 1892.
