The Old Mill, Hooper's Bridge, Cornwall
The Old Mill nestles snugly in fields below wooded hills above the little hamlet of Hooper's Bridge, south of Bodmin, Cornwall. Behind these cottages stands the building that housed the mill machinery. Alongside, flowing down from higher ground, runs the spring that once provided the power needed to turn the waterwheel. In the 1990s, I rented the cottage for a few months. My water supply came from a well fed by the stream which froze over in the winter. At the time, the mill's owner had plans to carry out as much renovation as was possible but I don't know if the work was ever completed.
