NU0913 : Lodge and gateway near Bolton

taken 14 years ago, near to Shawdon Hall, Northumberland, England

Lodge and gateway near Bolton
Lodge and gateway near Bolton
South entrance to Shawdon Hall, probably by John Dobson who made some alterations to the house in 1858. Quite a monumental entrance with screen walls of open arches with keystones and imposts, and gate piers topped with obelisk finials (the listing details refer to square urn finials). Grade II listed.
