St James Metro Station is below ground in the left foreground. Right of centre, Strawberry Place joins Gallowgate which to the right becomes Barrack Road. On the far left, the old town walls are just visible showing the direction to the city centre. Shiny tower blocks dominate the scene. To the left, City Gate forms a wall along the boulevard of Blenheim Street. In the centre, the striking, curved office block previously the headquarters of the Scottish & Newcastle Brewery, the only remaining building of the Tyne Brewery site, demolished for a new development, Science City. It is destined to be a new hotel LinkExternal link
The first buildings on part of the site known as Downing Plaza are going up to the right NZ2464 : Newcastle University Business School, Barrack Road
