The Godwin tombs, St Pancras Old Church
Mary Wollstonecraft (1759 - 1797) and her husband William Godwin were buried in these box tombs. (In 1851 their remains were removed to a family grave in Bournemouth.)
Her grave here was a trysting place for her daughter, also Mary, and her future husband, Percy Bysshe Shelley, when this was a rural churchyard beside the River Fleet.
