For more information, see NS3975 : Dumbarton Bridge. For other views of the bridge, and for additional information, see, for example, NS3975 : Old Dumbarton Bridge, NS3975 : Dumbarton Bridge, and NS3975 : Dumbarton Bridge.

Until shortly before this picture was taken, the bridge was lit by streetlights on conventional lamp posts: NS3975 : Dumbarton Bridge. The present photograph shows heritage lighting that was installed there in 2010. There are five lights on each side.

A 1936 photograph of the bridge shows it with what appear to be the same kind of lights, on the same supports; the new lights are intended to recreate that look. For a closer look at the upper part of one of the lights, see NS3975 : Dumbarton Bridge: streetlight (detail).

The steeple on the right belongs to the Bell Centre, a converted church: NS3975 : Former High Church. For the buildings at the far left, see NS3975 : View to old quayside.
